When it comes to worktops, in addition to aesthetic considerations, the material’s durability and longevity are also important. Mobilan works with quartz, ceramic, decorative and ABS worktops with edge-sealed finishes. We’re now going to introduce one of our most popular materials: quartz.
Quartz stone is a composite material consisting largely of a natural substance, quartz, to which polyester resin is added as a binder. The result is a truly durable material that is resistant to both mechanical and chemical stresses. There’s no need to worry about scratching the surface with the bases of our pots and pans or our cutlery. Furthermore, it is not as porous as granite, so moisture placed on the worktop won’t seep in, nor will it leave stains on the worktop. It can withstand thermal shock, meaning you can place a hot pan on it for a short time, but under no circumstances should you expose it to high temperatures for prolonged periods, as this may cause discolouration.
The range of colours and patterns is extremely wide. This is achieved by adding small quantities of glass or metal particles, or pigment, to the mixture. Both glossy and matt finishes are available. Unlike natural stone, the pattern is more uniform and predictable, making it easier to work with. Whether you’re aiming for a clean, minimalist look or a more playful overall effect, quartz stone is an excellent choice for both.
We recommend quartz for the thinner, 20 mm-thick worktop, but a 40 mm-thick version is also available. A truly decorative effect can be achieved by combining it with an undermount sink, which looks equally good in both classic and minimalist interiors. Quartz is not only ideal for worktops, but can also be used to create splashbacks and bar tops.
