One of the most important questions when designing our kitchen is: what colour should the kitchen units be? Most people stick to neutral colours such as white, black and beige, but if you do want to add a splash of colour to your interior, we’d definitely recommend blue kitchen cupboards. Depending on how you use them, you can achieve a variety of effects – and that’s exactly what we’re going to take a look at now.
The combination of blue and copper
In this kitchen, more classic-style kitchen units have been used. The blue colour of the base units harmonises with the kitchen island, whilst the worktop in both cases is white, with a glossier finish. The upper cupboards have also been designed in a traditional style, which complements the white tile-effect splashback. Copper accents run throughout the kitchen, from the handles and taps right through to the pendant lights. Despite the bold colour scheme, they didn’t shy away from choosing a more striking floor, which gives the overall look a truly modern feel. We mustn’t overlook the green plants either; they’re what give the kitchen its homely atmosphere.
Blue in the spirit of minimalism
The word ‘minimalism’ sounds a bit overused these days; it’s applied to all sorts of things. This flat, however, was genuinely designed in that spirit. The kitchen is also completely uncluttered; the row of blue base units does nothing to detract from the subtle overall effect. The room hasn’t been cluttered with unnecessary items, and the white walls and the uniform grey flooring further emphasise this simplicity. It is no coincidence that the upper cupboards are closed; this means that everything can truly be hidden away inside them, with nothing left in plain sight. There are no handles either, and the white fittings blend seamlessly into the surroundings.
A three-tone kitchen with high-gloss turquoise features
This kitchen unit is made up of three colours. The central section, with its wood grain finish, is beautifully complemented by the white and turquoise elements at either end. The greyish HPL-decorated back panel fits in well with the overall design. This kitchen is sure to have room for everything, as it offers an incredible amount of storage space. The black shelf on the right harmonises with the handles, which are made of a similar colour and material.
