Here\u2019s what to bear in mind when planning it!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A U-shaped kitchen is one where the layout is arranged along three adjacent walls, with the fourth wall of the room serving as the entrance. If there is sufficient space available, you can even incorporate an island or a peninsula into this layout to extend the worktop area and increase your kitchen\u2019s storage capacity. We\u2019d like to offer a few ideas if you choose this layout, to ensure you\u2019re happy with the end result.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Contrary to popular belief, a U-shaped kitchen isn\u2019t limited to huge floor spaces, but we should still be careful: it\u2019s important to have enough space between the worktops on the two opposite walls. Nor will we really feel at home with this layout in a kitchen that\u2019s too large, as we\u2019ll have to cover too much ground to get from one worktop to the other. To put it simply: nothing will really be within easy reach.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hu.pinterest.com\/pin\/589267932481626334\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2706 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mobilan-konyhabutor.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/u_alaku_konyha_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"564\" height=\"846\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mobilan-konyhabutor.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/u_alaku_konyha_2.jpg 564w, https:\/\/mobilan-konyhabutor.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/u_alaku_konyha_2-480x720.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 564px, 100vw\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009b77;\">#1. Plan the kitchen triangle carefully<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>But what exactly is the kitchen triangle? It\u2019s actually a rule of thumb used in the design of every kitchen, intended to make working in the kitchen as comfortable as possible. The sink, hob and fridge are positioned at the vertices of the triangle, representing the most important work processes: preparation, storage and cooking. Ideally, to ensure everything is within easy reach, the distance between these points should be no more than 90 centimetres, but under no circumstances should it exceed 6 metres!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009b77;\">#2. Think long term<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This actually applies to every kitchen design process. It\u2019s worth considering how long we expect to live in the property in question, so that we can be prepared for any changes in our life circumstances. One such change might be the arrival of children. If we design a child-friendly kitchen from the outset (link to previous article here), this won\u2019t limit its current functionality, but it can save us a lot of headaches and the hassle and expense of a major refurbishment later on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009b77;\">#3. The long-awaited kitchen island is finally here<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Provided we have enough space available, <a href=\"https:\/\/mobilan-konyhabutor.hu\/en\/why-youll-fall-in-love-with-the-kitchen-island-too\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let\u2019s not forget about the kitchen island either<\/a>. If our kitchen isn\u2019t big enough, we could even design a peninsula. A kitchen island isn\u2019t just very practical \u2013 providing extra worktop and storage space \u2013 but it can also transform our kitchen into a real communal space. After all, the family can gather round it, it can serve as a bar counter when we have guests, and the little ones can even sit down at it to do their homework whilst we\u2019re pottering about in the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hu.pinterest.com\/pin\/442971313350050856\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2707 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mobilan-konyhabutor.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/u_alaku_konyha_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"564\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mobilan-konyhabutor.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/u_alaku_konyha_3.jpg 564w, https:\/\/mobilan-konyhabutor.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/u_alaku_konyha_3-480x304.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 564px, 100vw\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009b77;\">#4. The time has come for open shelving<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The U-shaped kitchen offers countless storage options, as its three walls provide plenty of space for kitchen cupboards and shelves. However, be careful! If you plan to include too many closed cupboards in this type of kitchen, it can look very cluttered. You can avoid this by combining kitchen cupboards with open shelves. If you\u2019re not entirely comfortable with this shelving solution, opt for kitchen cupboards with glass doors, which reduce the feeling of clutter whilst still keeping plates and other kitchen accessories out of sight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009b77;\">#5. There\u2019s room for a few extras here too<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>As you\u2019re unlikely to have any storage problems in a U-shaped kitchen, you\u2019ll be able to incorporate a few extra features that you\u2019d be reluctant to make room for in other types of layout. This could be anything from a wine rack to a small children\u2019s play area, but the possibilities are endless.
